Many students come to Augusta Tech already having earned college credit from other institutions. Others have demonstrated their mastery of skills through years of military service, on-the-job experience, standardized tests and more. You’ve worked hard to gain that knowledge, so we do everything possible to count those credits toward your Augusta Tech degree, diploma or certificate through our Prior Learning Assessment Program. Prior Learning Assessment Credit
PLA is not “giving away credit” based on a cursory examination of a student’s resume. PLA involves evaluation of the learning that a student has and determining the equivalence of that learning to learning outcomes in college coursework. The amount of credit students can earn for their prior learning can be determined through several different types of assessments.
Augusta Technical College awards prior learning credit through the following opportunities:

Earn credit with a standardized exam or Augusta Tech exam. |
Receive credit for non-college educational experiences and training in the military. |
Acquire credit for non-college training. |
Earn credit with a standardized certification or licensure. |
Obtain credit for non-college activities by demonstrating college-level learning. |
